Bright Stars for the Children

Hope. Family. A Bright Future.

Our Mission

Founded in March 2025 by Glen and Loida Mather and governed by the Bright Stars for the Children Foundation, Bright Stars gives orphaned girls in the Dominican Republic the childhood every child deserves — surrounded by love, security, and the hope of a bright future. An exceptional staff, an ideal setting, and a Christian focus on character development come together to help each girl thrive.

A Home Like No Other

Set on five natural acres among banana, plantain, cocoa, avocado, mango, and coconut trees, our campus includes a dormitory sleeping 38 children, a pavilion seating 50, and a kitchen preparing healthy meals daily. A planned expansion will grow our capacity to serve up to 100 children — and may include a dormitory for the male siblings of our girls.

What Makes Bright Stars Different

We provide the structure of a real family for every girl in our care — security, certainty, consistency, nutrition, medical care, and love, paired with the lesson of personal responsibility. Girls leave Bright Stars equipped to thrive: in the workplace, in higher education, or as leaders within their own families.

Glen and Loida are in the Dominican Republic every month, supported by a caring staff and partners from local churches, medical volunteers, and community friends. Every donor is invited to visit Bright Stars — to see the campus, meet the staff, and spend time with some truly amazing girls.
