Ann M. Vasquez has a DREAM! Her dream is Morningstar* and it is becoming a reality thanks to generous Christians across the world. Ann saw the need for a school where Peruvian children were not lost and forgotten. An amazing and generous sponsor called her one day to facilitate the building for a school where children of all ages can learn and grow. The Process: Once the school was built, teachers were hired to go out into the community to interview parents and children. What they found was 144 children that could not break the cycle of poverty by themselves. Their parents were working hard and couldn’t afford clothing or food, yet wanted more for their kids. The 144 kids, with a simple helping hand, will attend school (transportation included), will have a uniform to wear, a full morning of classes and an entire afternoon tailored to attending to the individual needs of each child. From psychological assistance and therapy to tutoring and assistance in building the skills necessary to attend college or university or perform a trade, where there was previously no hope of ever accomplishing that goal.
Challenge
According to http://GlobalGiving.org , in Peru, the education system faces significant challenges. The pandemic exacerbated the situation, leading to a learning loss equivalent to a 10-year setback and deepening social inequality across educational levels. In rural areas, the situation is even more dire, with only 16 out of 100 primary students understanding what they read, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive education intervention.

MorningStar is already functioning and a dream come true! Through your generous contributions, we will have the teachers, students, food, uniforms and transportation necessary for MorningStar, a school of Hope and Possibilities where students have the resources necessary to Achieve their Dreams. Building the school, finding the teachers, ensuring appropriate transportation, food and clothing has been addressed! Funding the teachers and the education, food and uniforms is where you come in!
